Lithos® Semi-Rigid Cable Assembly

Rosenberger North America can process a very large variety of styles and bend configurations of semi-rigid cable assemblies, including tightly controlled phase-matched assemblies. State-of-the-art bending and measurement equipment enable Rosenberger’s Lithos® semi-rigid production technology to be superior and industry-leading.

Using our Lithos® semi-rigid manufacturing technology we can:

  • Manufacture multi-radius (up to 6, depending on the specific assembly and geometry)
  • Utilize precision measuring equipment to ensure geometric tolerance accuracy and consistency.
  • Ability to produce high volume (10,000’s/month)
  • Environmental chamber cycling to ensure specific electrical and mechanical characteristics are achieved.
  • Phase matching in pairs, absolute or in lots is available.
  • Capabilities to develop specific tooling to enable complex yet repeatable bend geometries
  • “Turnkey” design services are available where customer-supplied cabinet/enclosure drawings are made available to our engineering team and Rosenberger develops and routes the cables for the customer — please consult the factory.

Samples and Prototyping

Sample and prototype semi-rigid cable assemblies can be manufactured on demand, usually within a short period of time, typically within 2 to 4 weeks and very often at little, or no charge. Before the sampling of semi-rigid cable assemblies can begin, customer documentation is reviewed in addition to the quote which is supplied to the customer.

Processing capabilities

  • Sizes of semi-rigid cable processed (typical, others upon request): 0.020”, 0.047”, 0.073”, 0.086”, 0.118”, 0.141”, and 0.25”
  • Types of semi-rigid processed: Copper jacket, tin-plated copper, tin-plated aluminum in standard, and low-loss dielectric styles.
  • Phase matching available to ≤ ± 1 picosecond, geometry specific.

Requirements for quotation and prototyping:

At least one of the following (in addition to material requirements):

  • A two-dimensional drawing in .pdf or .dwg format
  • A solid model in .stp format.
  • Bend table data.
  • Reference geometry.

Also, please include projected annual usage (quantity) and any specific component requirements. Complete box builds will require layout information supplied to the factory.

Applications of semi-rigid cable

  • Communications systems
  • Custom test and measurement systems
  • Military and Aerospace
  • Medical Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) systems.
  • High reliability coaxial interconnect
